FROM OUR RIDERS

Ian A

The Ultimate Challenge was the toughest physical challenge I have ever done but incredibly satisfying to achieve. I loved learning to ride and sit in a high speed peloton like the pros for hours at a time,  riding through stunning scenery with a great bunch of cyclists and getting an event KOM on the final day.

My favourite moment was descending off the first climb on day two out of Mansfield. Most amazing descent I’ve ever done. 15km of balls out, hard as you can push descending on good roads with capable riders. This was the sort of experience that makes me want to do the next Ultimate Challenge ride.

At first the challenge was about teamwork and supporting the guys who might be struggling. I did my best to work for the team for the first 3 days, but when injury raised its ugly head it became me relying on the teamwork of the group to get me through to the finish. I will be forever indebted to the boys and the support crew for getting me through, I would not have made it without their support.

The highlight was arriving at Barangaroo after 1300kms of cycling, seeing all our family and friends who made the effort to greet us on our arrival.

The experience was immensely satisfying as I never thought I could or would complete such an arduous ride, and knowing I wouldn’t have been successful had it not been for everyone in the group - especially the ride captains and the support crew.

The challenge for me was an opportunity to assist those not so fortunate using a platform that tested me to the levels of those that suffer, or go without, on a day to day basis. It gave me the opportunity to experience a life style based on cycling, and how strongly it resonates with life’s toils.

I love riding and I love supporting others to achieve things, especially when they feel like it's a stretch. Peloton Events Ultimate Challenge gives me 8 solid days of doing this & seeing many people achieve more than they ever have before, and more than they believed they could, is very satisfying.

Personally, even though I love cycling, I’ve struggled with the amount of time I spend on the saddle for my own pleasure. Cycle charity challenges such as the Peloton Events Ultimate Challenge - riding with sensational people to benefit each other, people in need and other great causes - give me a far greater sense of worthwhile purpose.
